About the Event
John Kameel Farah is one of Canada's most creative and imaginative pianists. In concert, Farah combines the piano with synthesizers and electronics, moving freely between improvisations, soundscapes, and driving beats and rhythms, referring to his unique genre of music as “Baroque-Middle-Eastern-Cyberpunk”.
Each of John’s concerts is a unique unfolding tapestry, inspired by themes of liberation and cultural memory, as well as the ancient history and mythology of the Levant. He surrounds the piano with synthesizers, computer and electronics, creating a soundworld in which ambient electronic loops transform into Baroque fugues, which break into improvisations over breakbeats of Middle-Eastern percussion, to paint scintillating landscapes.
In Halifax, he is appearing at Mayworks Festival and we invited him to St. David's to play a special concert for piano and electronics. Don’t miss this one!
